I want to share an update regarding the school days missed due to snow and ice from January 26–30.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) allows districts to apply for a missed school day waiver under specific circumstances. Last night, our Board of Trustees approved the submission of this waiver request to TEA. I’m pleased to let you know that TEA has awarded our district the waiver, meaning we will not be required to make up the missed instructional days from January 28–30.
Under TEA rules, districts must have sufficient instructional minutes available to account for the first two missed days. Our district had already accumulated (or “banked”) more than enough instructional minutes earlier in the school year, and those banked minutes will cover the missed days on January 26 and 27. Because of this, and with the approved waiver, no calendar changes or makeup days are necessary.
As a result, our district calendar will remain the same for the remainder of the school year.
In short:
There will be no makeup days for the school closures due to snow and ice in late January.
Thank you for your flexibility during the winter weather and for your continued support of our students and staff. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

There will be no school for students on Friday, February 13. HISD staff will have a scheduled work day.

HISD will have an early release at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12. Please check with your campus for exact dismissal times. Staff will participate in afternoon PLC sessions.

There will be an HISD School Board Meeting tonight at the HISD Administration Building.
For additional information, please visit the HISD website under School Board to access agendas, board notes, policies, and other related materials.

We’ve been working behind the scenes to ensure all HISD libraries comply with SB 13 and HB 900 — and we’re proud to share that everything is in order.
Now, we need you to take the final step. Please use the link below to verify your email address.
Once verified, you will receive an email notification each time your student checks out a library book, including the exact title selected.
Thank you for partnering with us to provide the best education experience for your student(s). !

It was so great to celebrate our past players, recognize the amazing 1996 HHS Girls Basketball Team and their success, and honor some of the best coaches to ever represent Henrietta. Special thanks to Coach Styles, Coach Stanford, and Coach Parrish for making it out to the games! We are forever grateful for your leadership in HISD! And Sharon Fitts looked great in her letterman jacket!
Such a special night filled with memories, pride, and tradition. Huge thank you to Randi Tigrett, our basketball coaches, athletic director, and HHS administration for working together to make this night so meaningful.
