Henrietta ISD Names Laura McDonald Assistant Superintendent/Director of Instruction
Henrietta ISD is pleased to announce that Laura McDonald has been named the district’s new assistant superintendent. McDonald brings more than 20 years of experience in education, including roles as a teacher, principal, curriculum leader and regional instructional specialist.
McDonald has served as principal of Henrietta Junior High since 2021. During her tenure, she focused on instructional leadership, data-informed decision making, and building a strong school culture rooted in student growth and staff collaboration.
“I’ve been fortunate to serve in many capacities in public education, but nothing compares to serving this district and this community,” McDonald said. “I’m honored to step into this role and look forward to continuing the work of supporting teachers, students and families across all our campuses.”
Superintendent Jaime Clark said McDonald’s combination of experience and steady leadership made her the ideal choice for the position.
“Laura McDonald has earned the trust and respect of her staff, students and this community,” Clark said. “She understands Henrietta ISD from the inside out, and she’s committed to excellence at every level. We’re thrilled to have her step into this new role.”
Before joining Henrietta ISD, McDonald worked as Director of Student Services and Curriculum in Petrolia CISD and served as an instructional initiatives specialist with Region 9 Education Service Center. She also held campus leadership and teaching positions at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels, in multiple districts across Texas and Oklahoma.
McDonald holds a master’s degree from East Central University and a superintendent certification through Region 14. She and her husband, Michael, have two children, Delaney and Gage.

Henrietta ISD Board Attends Statewide Leadership Training to Strengthen Governance and Support for Students
Members of the Henrietta ISD Board of Trustees recently joined other school leaders from across the state at the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Summer Leadership Institute, held in San Antonio and Fort Worth. The conference offered in-depth learning sessions on everything from school finance and policy updates to leadership and community engagement.
Board members attended sessions tailored to both new and experienced trustees, diving into real-world challenges and learning from fellow board members across Texas. Superintendent Jaime Clark, who attended alongside the board, said the group’s dedication to continued learning is one of the things that makes Henrietta ISD special.
“Our board members don’t just show up to meetings. They show up to learn,” Clark said. “They ask smart questions, stay curious, and genuinely want to make the best decisions for our students and staff. Their involvement in this kind of training says a lot about how seriously they take their role.”
Board President Brad Yurcho said the experience reaffirmed the importance of ongoing education for school board members.
“We don’t take this responsibility lightly,” Yurcho said. “Attending the Summer Leadership Institute helps us stay informed and focused on what matters most. We want to make the right decisions for the future of our schools.”
Henrietta ISD has made board development a priority in recent years, recognizing that effective governance plays a key role in student success. The board plans to continue attending the institute each summer as part of its commitment to strong, student-centered leadership.
