COUNSELOR’S CORNER
Mary Parrish
Henrietta Elementary Counselor
I’m Mrs. Parrish and I have been the school counselor at Henrietta
Elementary for fifteen years. One of my favorite things to
teach students on our campus is to make good choices and to be a
person of good character. As an elementary school counselor
some of my responsibilities are:
• Classroom lessons on
character building and bully prevention
• Campus coordinator for
testing
• Career awareness
• Substance abuse
education
• Conflict resolution
• Individual and small
group counseling
• Collaboration with
teachers and parents
• CARE team coordinator
for assisting in the referral process for special programs
Elementary school years are a time for developing the knowledge,
attitudes, and skills necessary for children to become healthy,
competent and confident learners. As an elementary counselor
I work with the school staff, parents and the community to create a
caring climate and atmosphere on our campus. The knowledge,
attitudes and skills that students acquire in the areas of
academic, career and personal/social development during their years
at Henrietta Elementary serve as the foundation for their future
success.
We will soon be entering “TAKS” season. The state assessments
quite often cause test anxiety with many children. Listed
below are some links that might be beneficial to you and your
child.
