I’m Mrs. Parrish and I have been the school counselor at Henrietta Elementary for eighteen years. One of my favorite things to teach students on our campus is to make good choices and to be a person of good character. As an elementary school counselor some of my responsibilities are:
• Classroom lessons on character building and bully prevention
• Campus coordinator for testing
• Career awareness
• Substance abuse education
• Conflict resolution
• Individual and small group counseling
• Collaboration with teachers and parents
• CARE team coordinator for assisting in the referral process for special programs
Elementary school years are a time for developing the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for children to become healthy, competent and confident learners. As an elementary counselor I work with the school staff, parents and the community to create a caring climate and atmosphere on our campus. The knowledge, attitudes and skills that students acquire in the areas of academic, career and personal/social development during their years at Henrietta Elementary serve as the foundation for their future success.
